DaVinci Code Madness

Seriously, The DaVinci Code is a good book. Period, no need to read into it, it's not the "new" bible, its not Dan Brown's attempt to make you disbelieve in anything you already believe in. It merely takes "fact" or at least research and populates a fictional world with real world ideas. It is amazing, however, that it takes a work of fiction for Christians to actually read books that, maybe not contain contrarian positions, but at least highlight some of the data that has been shielded from the masses for hundreds of years. I can also say, that anyone that reads Brown's other books you see that he takes some hardcore research, whether he did it himself or not, and puts it into real world situations, whether it's about history, or whether it's about scientific discoveries. What the guy did was take an intriguing plot, throw in a twister at the end and throw in a lot of heavy research.

Now for anyone to take offense or to be quick to the defensive, most parents know that this clearly means that someone did something wrong...in this case, that someone may not have the faith in what they supposedly believe in, otherwise, this book would simply be a book. Anyone that has true Faith in ANYTHING, would simply look at a book that deals with aspects of that Faith, gloss over the parts that could rock that Faith to it's foundations and look at the book for what it is....a story....and a good story at that!

Good book, hope to see the movie, heard it's good...that's it...and yes I am still a Christian after having absorbed this book!

Alligators and Cougars and Coyotes...oh my!!!

Okay, I live in Texas, in the northern part of DFW...in a huge sprawling suburban wasteland....little did I know I had to watch my dog real close when he's walking the beach of the local lake or my kids when playing in my backyard. Just recently a 'Gator surfaced in Lewisville lake, and some vigilante shot him...I won't link the pics or videos of him, because the media just basically covered the part where the local game folks were towing his bloated carcass across the lake. Ewww...

So then a few days later? A cougar was attacking animals and people in the area...holy crap!!!

THEN, THEN I have some tilework done in the bathroom upstairs and the guy that comes in says, yeah, you gotta watch your dog. Ya'll have coyotes up here in this area. They'd probably eat that cute little guy for a snack. I was like, really? Holy Crap!!!

You wanna talk about living with nature! Screw their habitats! I don't want a coyote eating my dog or God forbid one of my kids! We have a train track splitting our little city that runs all the way out to the west of Denton, TX, and its all one big greenbelt easement out that way...they could easily make their way here.

Scary scary nature!!!
